Position Title: HR Specialist Reports to: CFO

FLSA Status: Full-time; non-exempt Compensation: $75-$85K (annual) Schedule/Location: M-F 8am-5pm / IN-Office KAPA

Position Overview

The Human Resources (HR) Specialist will support the organization in various functions, including recruitment, employee onboarding, employee relations, employee records management, payroll, benefits administration, and compliance. This role will assist in ensuring the company’s HR policies and procedures are consistently followed, help improve employee satisfaction and contribute to a positive workplace environment. Additionally, this role will serve as the Designated Employer Representative (DER) for our drug and alcohol program, specifically for our PT135 aviation operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Onboarding and Recordkeeping

  • Manage the employee onboarding process from start to finish, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and in a timely Ensure all required paperwork for new hires is processed in accordance with federal, state, and company policies.

Payroll and Benefits Administration

  • Properly add new hires and process termed employees in the systems for payroll processing and benefits

  • Maintain and assist with the HRIS databases/programs for tracking employee status and information, compensation, benefits elections and costs, and PTO/Sick
  • Reconcile insurance carrier
  • Serve as the point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, providing timely resolution to any payroll
  • Perform and maintain state level registrations for out of state
  • Ensure proper notification to payroll processor for accurate filings and third-party Compliance and Program Administration
  • Administer and stay up to date with federal and state labor programs, including but not limited to CO FAMLI, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and any other relevant employment law
  • Ensure required postings in all
  • Review and update the employee handbook annually to ensure it reflects current policies, procedures, and compliance with all federal, state, and local
  • Ensure company compliance with employment laws and regulations; assist in audits as needed. Recruiting and Interviewing
  • Facilitate the full cycle recruiting process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and selection.
  • Coordinate interview schedules and communicate with candidates throughout the process. Drug and Alcohol Program (PT135 Operator)
  • Serve as the Designated Employer Representative (DER) for the company’s drug and alcohol program in compliance with FAA regulations for PT135 operators.
  • Ensure all drug and alcohol testing procedures are administered according to federal and company policies, including pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to drug and alcohol testing
  • Oversee and coordinate training for employees on drug and alcohol program Employee Relations
  • Assist with employee recognition programs in collaboration with the Office Manager and in accordance with current company

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related
  • 3-5 years of HR experience
  • Previous experience in payroll administration, employee onboarding, compliance, and
  • SHRM-CP, PHR or other HR certifications (preferred by not required)
  • Strong understanding of federal and state labor laws and
